Are you new to delta 8? Maybe you’re new to hemp products, in general. Either way, it can take some time to find the right delta 8 dosage size. Everyone starts somewhere, and in this guide, you’ll learn just how different everyone’s serving sizes might be.

Our Delta 8 Dosage Guide

What’s an ideal serving size for your needs? Well, there’s not a one-size-fits-all kind of answer. Fortunately, we’re going to give you all the tools you need to find the ideal dosage for you. How much delta 8 is enough without being too much? Let’s find out together!

First Things First – What is Delta 8?

If you’re especially new to delta 8, you may not even know what it is yet. We go more in-depth in other delta 8 blogs, but we’ll give you a quick summary here. Delta 8 THC is a less potent but still psychoactive cannabinoid from cannabis.

Like THC, it’s a cannabinoid that can get you high. It’s less potent, which means it’s not going to hit you quite as hard as the THC in marijuana does.

Delta 8 THC may even offer a number of other benefits. Many users experience fewer anxiety symptoms, notice pain relief and relief from nausea, and much more.

Is a Delta 8 Dosage the Same as Your CBD Dosage?

Some might assume that you can approach a delta 8 dosage the same way you do your CBD dosage. While we can understand that line of thinking, the concepts are not quite the same.

If you already take a certain serving of CBD per day, you may be more familiar with hemp-based products. A similar delta 8 dosage size might do the trick for you. We don’t guarantee that the same serving size will do what you want it to. It may be a good place to start, though.

However, there are plenty of other factors in play for finding your perfect delta 8 serving size. The less-potent form of THC is a psychoactive cannabinoid, while CBD is non-psychoactive. They both come from hemp, but there’s more to consider when comparing the two serving sizes.

Curious about what your CBD dosage should be? We have a guide for that, too. Be sure to check out our dosage guide for CBD.

If finding your delta 8 dosage is more up your alley, this guide is for you. Let’s dig deeper into some of the big questions you might have.

Can You Take Too Much Delta 8?

Is there a limit to how much delta 8 THC you can take?

Well, kind of. The good news is, you can’t overdose on delta 8 THC. But just like with any substance, you can go overboard.

Fortunately, when it comes to cannabis, there’s not a lethal dose amount. There is a lethal dose for the delta 9 THC variant, but it’s an incredibly large quantity. Since delta 8 is a less potent form of THC, it would have to be an even larger amount.

If you take “too much” delta 8, though, you might not have the greatest time. It might make you feel dizzy; even confused. Many people benefit from what delta 8 in small doses gives them. There can always be too much of a good thing, though.

A mild sedative, you might feel particularly relaxed, maybe even drowsy. If you’re not familiar with THC at all, these effects may feel more intense for you. The lower the dosage, the more likely delta 8 is to make you feel stimulated instead of sedated.

So, yes, you can take too much delta 8, but it’s not going to take you out forever. You might just need a good nap before you’re good to go again.

This is why we recommend that you start low and work your way up to find your ideal delta 8 dosage size. You don’t want to be caught feeling “too” high when you wanted delta 8 for your anxiety or other symptoms.

We want to help you understand delta 8’s potency better so you can more easily enjoy it. Keep reading to learn the easiest ways to avoid ever taking too large of a delta 8 dosage.

Understanding Delta 8’s Potency

To understand your ideal delta 8 dosage better, let’s break down the potency of a delta 8 product.

Firstly, it depends on two factors. You must look at the overall milligram strength of the product. Then, look at the milligram strength of the delta 8 THC within the product. Some products may also list the CBD, CBG, or other contents if there are any.

The potency lies in more than how much of the THC you get with each serving. A delta 8 product’s potency is how much THC and other compounds are in the product. Something with delta 8 and other cannabinoids will offer a more intense experience than delta 8 by itself.

As an example, our CBD+Delta 8 oil has 930mg CBD and 840mg delta 8 THC in each 30ml bottle. For many consumers, a half-dropper full of oil is an ideal starting point. Each half-dropper full, or 1ml, is 15 to 16mg CBD and 14mg delta 8 THC.

Not everyone’s starting point is the same, though. Likewise, the serving size will differ depending on the product. We’ll touch on different serving sizes for our various delta 8 products in a bit. In the meantime, let’s look at the most important things to keep in mind about your delta 8 dosage size.

3 Things to Know About Delta 8 Dosage Sizes

1. Everyone is Different

Humans (and other mammals) have skeletal, muscular, and other bodily systems. Another bodily system you may not be as familiar with is our endocannabinoid system, also called the ECS. Every person’s ECS responds differently to various phytocannabinoids.

In essence, everyone is different. That shines through even on a base, anatomical level.

It’s why there’s no established dosage amount that’s somehow perfect for everyone. Cannabis products interact with everyone’s body so differently, there’s no set rule of thumb that will always be right.

With that in mind, we want to go into this delta 8 dosage guide cautiously. We can’t guarantee our recommendations will be ideal for you. Our goal is to help you find your ideal serving size yourself using our strategies.

Only after time, consistency, and experimentation are you likely to find your perfect delta 8 dosage size. Just keep in mind, what works for your friend, coworker, partner, or anyone else may not be the right amount for you.

2. Always Start Low

That brings us to our next point. When you start experimenting with serving sizes, use the rule of thumb that less is more.

You can always work your way up to more — you can’t undo when you take too much.

Fortunately, as we mentioned earlier, taking “too much” only leads to some mild negative symptoms, for the most part. A faster heartbeat, light sweating, and maybe some severe drowsiness are potentials.

It doesn’t hurt to avoid those mild negative symptoms altogether, though. Start with a small serving size and wait 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the product, before you take more.

Read the product’s serving size recommendations. To start out low, use half or even just a quarter of the amount that’s recommended.

3. Slowly Determine Your Ideal Serving Size

We can’t stress enough, slow and steady really does win the race. Just as you should start low, you should also go slow. Oftentimes, products don’t have clear guidelines for exactly how much to take. There are sometimes recommendations, but even those can be vague.

To find your optimal delta 8 dosage, work your way up slowly and pay attention to the results. Try to observe the lowest amount it takes before you can feel any effects.

Go up 5 to 10mg at a time to get the number down to a science. You may find it helpful to start a dosage log. Keep track of how much delta 8 you use and when to narrow in on exactly the right serving size.

The dosage log could also help you track what effects you feel so you can optimize your delta 8 product. If you take as little as possible to feel its effects, you can stretch out its amount of uses. Likewise, you lessen how quickly your THC tolerance will increase.

In fact, more people are learning how to microdose with delta 8, CBD, and more. The benefits of microdosing are only freshly discovered, and we’re learning more every day. We even wrote a guide on the very subject.

Delta 8 Dosage Guide

Below, we answer some of your most common questions on delta 8 dosage sizes. Throughout this delta 8 dosage guide, it’s our goal to be as transparent as possible.

We want to show you how long delta 8 takes to work and how long before you start to notice its benefits. Does delta 8’s benefits amplify with a consistent routine like CBD does?

Then, show you the factors to consider when you start trying out your own delta 8 dosage. Finally, we’ll give you a good range for various delta 8 users depending on the type of product. Let’s dive in.

How Long Does Delta 8 Take to Work?

We’ll say it again and again: everyone is different. That means it’ll differ on how long delta 8 will take to kick in, how long it’ll last, and more.

In fact, it even depends on the type of delta 8 product you choose. A vape cartridge, for example, is likely to kick in the fastest. It can take 10 to 20 minutes to feel its effects. However, some users feel it in less than 5 minutes.

A delta 8 softgel, on the other hand, may take longer. They can take about as long as some edibles. Generally, users start to feel effects from softgels after 60 to 90 minutes.

How Long a Delta 8 Edible Takes

Just because it’s a cannabis edible doesn’t mean it’s going to hit the same way as a marijuana edible.

If you choose the edible route, it depends on the delta 8 edible. Delta 8 gummies, for example, may kick in the fastest (out of the edibles). Many users start to feel almost a tingling sensation spread through the body after 5 to 15 minutes.

From there, it’s more of a slow simmer compared to the cannonball that is a delta 9 edible.

For others, it can take up to an hour, sometimes longer, before the delta 8 edible kicks in. It could depend on the food you’ve eaten throughout the day. When you take it during the day might also play a role.

Some users don’t feel anything until 2 to 4 hours after taking delta 8. Proceed with caution if it’s been over an hour and you’re not feeling anything. It may not be time to take more just yet.

When the delta 8 effect does hit, many users say it lasts anywhere from 2 to 3 hours. Sometimes it may even last longer. It depends on how much other food you’ve had, how much delta 8 you took, and much more.

So, how long does delta 8 take to work? Well, it depends on you. It’s why we cannot stress enough the start low and go slow method.

Our Delta 8 Dosage Chart

Factors to Consider for Your Delta 8 Dosage

We’ve shown you what to consider before you dive into delta 8 dosage sizes. Now, though, let’s look at the human side of things. There are some factors to weigh that might alter your desired delta 8 dosage.

Your Overall Goals

What do you want out of delta 8?

Are you trying to find out how much it takes to feel a light buzz? Trying to learn how many gummies or puffs on a vape cartridge it takes before its effects kick in?

Maybe you’re looking for its other benefits, though. Microdosing throughout the day is a whole different adventure. Users feel more focused and productive while staying clear-headed.

The amount you take will differ depending on what your goals are. You can likely expect to take more if you’re desire is to feel a buzz.

Weight and Age

Next, your weight and age play into how much delta 8 THC you’ll need.

Weight plays a heavier factor (no pun intended). Someone who weighs 250 pounds will likely need to take more delta 8 than someone who weighs 130 pounds.

As we keep preaching, though, everyone is different. We can’t guarantee how a delta 8 product will affect you based purely on your weight or age.

There are plenty of people that weigh below 150 pounds with a high tolerance. Vice versa, there are users that weigh over 250 pounds and are still lightweights. It’s just a factor to pay attention to when you try to find your ideal delta 8 dosage size.

Cannabis or THC Tolerance

Finally, your sensitivity to cannabinoids definitely comes into play here. If you have an extreme THC tolerance, you might need more than the average user.

Likewise, your tolerance is just bound to increase over time. The more frequently and longer you go using delta 8, the more likely your tolerance is to increase.

Fortunately, we’ve got a handy guide on when to tell if you should take a tolerance break with delta 8. If, after some time, your delta 8 dosage has gone up, it may be time to circle back around here.

Different Delta 8 Dosage Sizes for Different Products

We hope you’ve been able to learn more about delta 8 dosages in this guide. Now, we want to give you an idea of how much to take with each product.

Delta 8 Softgel Capsules

The benefits of using delta 8 softgel capsules are quite abundant.

A precise serving with each softgel — what’s not to love? Your delta 8 dosage is easy since there’s an exact amount per capsule.

Will Delta 8 Capsules Cause a High?

When it comes to delta 8 capsules, users are usually expecting benefits over a buzz.

People do report that they feel an uplifting body sensation. You might even feel a mild sense of euphoria.

Recommended Delta 8 Dosage
  • Beginners/First-Timers – 1 softgel
  • Moderate Users – 1 softgel
  • Experienced Users – 1 to 2 softgels
Recommendations

The only downside seems to be that those with a low tolerance can’t just halve a serving. That’s why we’d recommend anyone start out with one.

Experienced users may want to take two, but you should discover that over time. Maybe don’t take two right out the gate.

If your goal is to feel a good buzz, though, feel free to take more. We recommend you take one, wait and see how it hits you, and go from there.

Those with a particularly high tolerance to cannabinoids might find some fun with three or even four capsules. Just proceed with caution, okay? There’s no need to go overboard when you can start low and go slow instead.

delta 8 gummies are our most popular products!Edibles

Gummies

For good reason, our tasty gummies might be our most popular delta 8 product. Each gummy contains 20mg delta 8 THC.

For first-timers and beginners half a gummy, or 10mg, is an excellent starting point. Even cutting it into quarters and consuming just 5mg is a perfect way to get started.

Recommended Delta 8 Dosage
  • Beginners/First-Timers  – ½ (half) of a single gummy
  • Moderate Users – 1 gummy
  • Experienced Users – 1 ½ or 2 gummies
Recommendations

Wait at least 30 minutes before you decide if you need more gummies. If you feel the effects you were wanting, you can stop there.

Eat another gummy (or half gummy, for newbies) once the effects wear off completely. Or, hold off until the next day so you can make your gummies last even longer. You have the bonus of helping to prevent yourself from building a tolerance doing it that way, too.

Chocolate

Both our dark chocolate and milk chocolate bars are some of our most popular delta 8 products. Sweet treats for our chocolate lovers, they each have something unique to offer.

Each chocolate bar contains the same amount of delta 8 THC. However, the flavors are distinctly different. Are you a fan of bittersweet dark chocolate, or rich milk chocolate? We accommodate both tastes here.

Our chocolate bars are each 225mg delta 8 THC in total, and each package contains 15 chocolate squares. Broken down, that means each piece contains 15mg delta 8 THC. Half of a piece or a whole piece might be ideal for newbies.

Recommended Delta 8 Dosage
  • Beginners/First-Timers – ½ (half) of 1 chocolate square
  • Moderate Users – 1 chocolate square
  • Experienced Users – 2 to 3 or more chocolate squares
Recommendations

On the Nutrition Facts on the back of our chocolate bars, you’ll see that a serving size is 3 chocolate squares. That is not the recommended serving size for a delta 8 dosage, though. We want to stress that that’s for the caloric information.

We don’t recommend you start with a serving size of 3 pieces. Even for experienced users, 45mg delta 8 THC may hit harder than expected.

We also offer both Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate Samples.

Brownie Bites

To be more precise, each brownie bite offers 25mg CBD to 12.5mg delta 8 THC.

Like our Fruity Squares, our delta 8 Brownie Bites are perfect for users that prefer a higher CBD:THC ratio.

Included as well is 1.7mg CBG and 5mg CBC.

Each brownie bite also contains 1.44mg delta 9 THC, which is below the legal limit for hemp products.

While they’re perfect for users that prefer CBD-heavy products, they’re also great for users with a sweet tooth. Sometimes you don’t want a cereal dessert or a chocolate bar. Sometimes you want a chocolatey baked good!

Recommended Delta 8 Dosage
  • Beginners/First-Timers – ½ (half) of a brownie bite
  • Moderate Users – 1 brownie bite
  • Experienced Users – 1 to 2 brownie bites
Recommendations

Our recommendations for our brownie bites are similar to most of our other edibles. Try out half of a serving if it’s your first time. People with a low tolerance should also err on the low side.

After about one hour, you can try eating another half if you don’t feel the effects you’re looking for.

Tincture/ Delta 8 Oil

So far, the delta 8 and CBD combo products we’ve mentioned have been CBD-heavy. Our Full-Spectrum CBD+Delta 8 THC oil is closer to a 50:50 ratio.

Each 465mg bottle contains 465mg full-spectrum CBD and 420mg delta 8 THC. Our 930mg bottle contains 930mg full-spectrum CBD and 840mg delta 8 THC.

While it’s not an exact 50:50 ratio, you can see it’s relatively close. Our oil offers a full-spectrum experience to provide an entourage effect in the body.

An entourage effect is when multiple cannabinoids work together to modulate or emphasize the effects of one or all of them. To simplify, when delta 8, CBD, and other cannabinoids team up in your body, they might amplify in effect.

Recommended Delta 8 Dosage
  • Beginners/First-Timers – ½ (half) or less of a dropper
  • Moderate Users – Up to 1 full dropper
  • Experienced Users – 1 to 2 droppers full
Recommendations

Each dropper full of CBD and delta 8 oil contains 1ml, in total. A half dropper full would come out to half a milliliter. For this kind of delta 8 dosage size, go up to every ½ml at a time.

Try our Full-Spectrum CBD+Delta-8 THC Oil

Delta 8 Flower

Herb, also known as delta 8 flower, is a bit harder to dose. Since it’s in smoke form, you measure your delta 8 dosage by puffs or hits. It’s difficult to measure the exact amount of delta 8 you’re consuming. However, it is totally worth it for the experience it provides.

Recommended Delta 8 Dosage
  • Beginners/First-Timers – 1 puff
  • Moderate Users – 1 to 3 puffs
  • Experienced Users – 2 to 5 puffs
Recommendations

Some prep time is involved when it comes to delta 8 flower. Unlike other delta 8 products, you have to grind up delta 8 flower before you can use it.

When you grind up your flower, you can get creative with it! What do you want to smoke out of? You could use a standard pipe, bubbler, bong, or other piece. Likewise, you could roll up a joint or blunt to get twisted with.

A large number of people still prefer to smoke than use edibles or other cannabis products. We aim to accommodate, which is why our delta 8 flower and delta 8 moon rocks are such hits.

Vape Cartridges

Vape cartridges have fast become massively popular in the cannabis world. From marijuana to CBD, cartridges are alive and abundant with delicious concentrate. The same can be said for our delta 8 vape cartridges.

Each 1-gram cart contains around 850mg (800 to 880mg) of delta 8 THC. We even have multiple strains to choose from. It’ll depend greatly on what you’re in the mood for that day.

Recommended Delta 8 Dosage
  • Beginners/First-Timers – 1 puff
  • Moderate Users – 1 to 3 puffs
  • Experienced Users – 2 to 4 puffs
Recommendations

Similar to that of our delta 8 flower, start with just one puff and work your way up. It might vary if you have a high tolerance, but it doesn’t hurt to start low and go slow. Below, we’re going to touch on how each vape cartridge strain varies in flavor and effect.

Different Flavors to Suit Different Tastes

The biggest difference in each of our delta 8 vape cartridges is the strain we use for them. Each strain comes paired with its own unique combination of terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids.

Why You Should Start at the Lowest Dose Possible

We want to stress again all the reasons you should always start low and go slow. First, no one likes cannabis tolerance. Tolerance to THC means you have to spend more money on product. You have to spend more time using that product to feel THC’s effects.

Second, you don’t want to accidentally take too much. While there’s not a fatal dose you have to worry about, you can feel “too” high. Dizziness, confusion, and more can happen when you get too stoned for the day, after all.

Finally, doesn’t it sound cooler to be able to narrow in on your ideal delta 8 dosage? If you go up just 5mg at a time, you can get extremely precise with it. Then you can brag about how many milligrams exactly it takes for you to get a nice buzz.

Wrapping Up Our Delta 8 Dosage Guide
