Improving Lives, Giving Back

Every day, we’re honored to be a distinction in the hemp and cannabis industries. Through the Ounce of Hope Difference, we’re able to stand out from the cannabis crowd and give back to our community. And we do this in several ways.

First, we grow our cannabis through aquaponics — and we’re one of the only cannabis brands that does. We run a decoupled aquaponic system in line with living soil-raised beds.

In aquaponics, the nutrient-rich water from raising fish provides a natural fertilizer for the plants, and, in turn, the plants help to purify the water for the fish. It’s a win-win in our little ecosystem.

INDOOR AQUAPONIC CANNABIS FARM

Our indoor aquaponic farm is a scalable vertical approach to high-quality fish, cannabis plants, and superb products. We commit to transparent, end-to-end (farm-to-shelf) supply chain management to add trust for our customers and industry partners.

Using our Controlled Environment Cannabis Production methods (CECP), we are continually monitoring and changing the environments for our fish, plants, and facility. In turn, this allows us to bring our customers and partners a consistently high-quality end product while minimizing environmental impact.

The growing methods our aquaponic farm utilizes lend us to a quick turnaround time. That’s compared to current crop varieties that take between 8-10 weeks to grow and harvest. As a result, our end consumer product is never older than a few months!

Presently, we can harvest about 6 times per year. We grow plants and raise fish 365 days per year! To top it off, our aquaponic operation uses 90% less water than traditional agriculture methods.

EXTRACTING THROUGH A ROSIN PRESS

The next step we take is to extract cannabinoids and other potent hemp compounds without chemicals or solvents. As a result, we use a rosin press that utilizes heated, hydraulic plates to apply heat and pressure to hemp flower. With enough heat and pressure, the flower becomes an oily form known as rosin.

That rosin is highly concentrated and produced with zero solvents or chemicals. The result is a potent but clean product that may possibly be more versatile than any kief or hash on the market. It’s also what allows us to make a rich array of products – from edibles to salves.

HOW WE GIVE BACK

We always aim to give back to our community and stay friendly to the environment. To do that, we currently donate our fish to local homeless shelters. We also donate some of our excess fish poop to local farms and gardens.
