4/20, the momentous weed holiday, is fast approaching for 2021, and delta-8 products are trendier than ever! Like with CBD, delta-8 THC is derived from hemp, so even though it’s a THC derivative, it’s still fully legal. If you’re trying to figure out how to celebrate 4/20 this year, we may have the solution for you.

The fun, new, legal way to get high, we wanted to look at just how many ways we can celebrate April 20th with delta-8 THC! Let’s dive into our 2021 guide on ways to celebrate 4/20 with delta-8.

4/20’s Origin: A Brief History

From a police code that meant “marijuana smoking in progress” to a coded message hidden in one of Bob Dylan’s famous songs, there’s been quite an array of conspiracy stories as to 4/20’s origin. While some are clear myths, April 20th as a holiday for stoners dates back to the 1970s to a group of high schoolers known as the Waldos.

Termed the Waldos themselves, the group would meet outside of school on the wall every day at 4:20 pm after their extracurricular activities so they could all smoke pot together. The number 420 eventually became a code, evolving to mean any time marijuana was involved. When someone said the number “420”, sometimes that’s all you’d need for groups to disperse and meet back up in a specified spot to toke up.

The Grateful Dead are responsible for helping the holiday spread from there. Over the next few decades, one of the Waldos went as a roadie with the Grateful Dead across the nation and the world. They helped spread the code word far and wide. This eventually evolved into April 20th, or 4/20, which is commemorated as a fine cannabis holiday.

What is Delta-8 THC?

We’ve been through this one before, so if you’re new or need a refresher on what delta-8 THC is and what it might be able to do for you, be sure to check out the rest of our blogs. In summary, though, d8 is a less-potent version of delta-9 THC, a THC found abundant in marijuana.

Found in both hemp and marijuana plants, delta-8 is only found in small quantities in both. It also provides a less-intense high with a variety of positive properties for most people who have tried it.

How to Celebrate 4/20 in the Illegal States – with Delta-8 THC

Now that delta-8 THC derived from industrial hemp is legal across the nation on a federal level, you can, fortunately, get high this holiday season in virtually any state (except where delta-8 THC has specifically been banned).

Check your local and state laws before trying out d8, but it is acceptable in almost every part of the country. We’ve made a lot of progress on cannabis legalization, and delta-8 products benefit because of it. As a result, they’re an easy, safe option to be able to enjoy your 4/20 holiday without worry or stress.
