FAQ About CBD
What is CBD Oil?
CBD oil is a natural essential oil which is extracted from the flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant. It is used by people all over the world as a dietary supplement and for a variety of therapeutic purposes.
How Does CBD Work?
CBD can act as a neurotransmitter. Neurotransmitters help to regulate bodily systems at a cellular level. CBD has been shown to have effects on a wide array of systems in the human body, such as the immune system, the nervous system, the endocrine system, the cardiovascular system, the digestive system, the heart, liver, and kidneys, the epidermis and others. CBD is also known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.CBD interacts with the body through the endogenous cannabinoid system (ECS) or endocannabinoid system. First discovered in the late 1980’s, the endocannabinoid system regulates the body’s homeostasis, or general state of balance, impacting such functions as mood, sleep, appetite, hormone regulation, and pain and immune response. Like an acrobat on a highwire, as the environment around us impacts our normal balance, the endocannabinoid system “corrects” by mediating our body’s reaction to keep us level.
While its effects will be slightly different between cases, individuals taking CDB commonly experience benefits including pain relief, increased focus, emotional stability, and reduced stress.
Are There Side Effects of Taking CBD?
CBD is thought to be well-tolerated and safe for human consumption. According to Harvard Heath Publishing, “Side effects of CBD include nausea, fatigue and irritability. CBD can increase the level in your blood of the blood thinner coumadin, and it can raise levels of certain other medications in your blood by the exact same mechanism that grapefruit juice does. A significant safety concern with CBD is that it is primarily marketed and sold as a supplement, not a medication. Currently, the FDA does not regulate the safety and purity of dietary supplements. So you cannot know for sure that the product you buy has active ingredients at the dose listed on the label. In addition, the product may contain other (unknown) elements. We also don’t know the most effective therapeutic dose of CBD for any particular medical condition.” There have been some reports of dry mouth, low blood pressure, lightheadedness, and drowsiness, the health information site reports.
CBD is considered to be safe and non-toxic for humans and for even some pets to take, even at high amounts.
Is CBD Legal To Use in My State?
If we’re talking about hemp-derived CBD, then the answer is yes. Now, the keyword here is “hemp-derived.” Because CBD from hemp has no psychoactive effects, the purchase, sales, or possession of hemp CBD products are completely legal in all 50 States. Because hemp is sometimes confused with the marijuana plant, there is still some stigma towards hemp-derived CBD, but from a legal perspective, hemp-derived CBD is completely legal and enjoys the rights of any other legal product.
All Ounce of Hope products are derived from the highest quality industrial hemp sustainably grown by Oregon, Tennessee and Colorado farmers.
What is CBD Used For?
Many people use CBD to promote a health state known as homeostasis, the body’s natural tendency to maintain a healthy balance in all its systems. Cannabinoids are an integral part of the human body’s ability to regulate and balance a wide variety of physiological systems. CBD is also used by some to treat particular ailments such as seizure disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and others.
